The emergence of antibiotic-resistant infections is reaching unprecedented levels and we're running out of effective drugs to combat them.
That's the message of the World Health Organization (WHO) warns that "the world is about to lose their miracle cures" antibiotics.
According to the body requiring "urgent and concerted global action by governments, health professionals, industry and civil society to return to slow the spread of resistance to these drugs.
"The world is moving toward a postantibiotic era in which many common infections can no longer be cured and, once again, begin to kill with full force," said the director general of WHO, Margaret Chan.
