Medieval Market Ibiza 2010 (7-9 May)

During the second weekend in May the old town of Ibiza, known as Dalt Vila, is transformed a medieval market in which there is room for street vendors, nobles, fakirs, snake charmers and jugglers. It is the staging of a big party with which the City of Ibiza welcomes the declaration by the Unesco, four natural and cultural elements of the island as a World Heritage Site. This statement was made in December 1999.

The celebrations are mainly focused on aspects related to the cultures that have shaped the essence of Ibiza, a city which have been the Phoenicians, Romans and Arabs, and today is still very much subject to the influence of foreign cultures.

Dalt Vila streets are decorated with fabrics and flags and remember to the Ibiza Medieval centuries. Right there are enabled sites selling all kinds of craft products belonging to the above cultures, including traditional Ibizan. The application period stops sale opens each year and published on the website of the City Council and in local newspapers.
Throughout the weekend, more than 150,000 people visit the markets and participate in various entertainment shows and activities. The most prominent are the medieval drama, falconry, archery and belly dance.
