Launch Hotline "Abortion: More Information, Less Risk"
Accession Men for Equality.
As Men engaged in the struggle for gender equity, and aware that this involves more visible and expose each of the inequalities in the context of the patriarchal system, we add our support to this initiative for the democratization of access to information on the correct method for a safer abortion, seeing it as part of a wider struggle by the woman's right to sovereignty over her own body.
The patriarchal system and its institutions (family, school, church, justice, media), we consistently deny the possibility of self-determination in our elections. Legislate on our lives, our desires and our bodies.
Women, and especially poor women are the ones who suffer most from these mandates, being criminalized and stigmatized when they want to continue a pregnancy at risk of death to the situation of secrecy and uncertainty that are exposed by a State priority false morality over public health.
Men, we must engage actively in the struggle for sexual and reproductive rights, not only supporting historical claims of the feminist movement, but also getting involved and taking responsibility, while men, in active and conscious struggle for equal access to rights by all humans and all human.

According to the Ministry of Health of the Nation 60% of pregnant women in Argentina did not plan the pregnancy. In the UK is around 500,000 abortions per year, mostly underground. Admitted to public hospitals and 68,000 women post-abortion complications. Of them die each year around 100. Years ago, the leading cause of death of pregnant women in the country derives from unsafe abortion practices. Among women who interrupted their pregnancy, seeking medical attention to alarm signals received was delayed. According to the Ministry of Health of the Nation, this delay may be explained by the stigma associated with illegal abortion. In other words, these deaths are preventable by putting information on safe abortion in the hands of women.
The use of drugs to safe abortions has over twenty years practice and is recommended by the World Health Organization and other agencies for their efficiency and low risk of death and complications when performed with the correct method. The method of abortion with the drug misoprostol is recommended by the World Health Organization as a safe method of abortion to 12 weeks of pregnancy without hospitalization and safely, with minimal further medical control, as is necessary before a spontaneous abortion. Many women are unaware that this method exists. Those who can usually obtain information unclear and incomplete.
information method to abort with misoprostol is available in specialized organizations, and is provided by the state even in countries where abortion is restricted, primarily over the Internet. In Argentina, 6 of every 10 boxes of misoprostol are sold without complying with the prescription requirement filed. This indicates, among other things, that no one can monopolize the knowledge, and that women decide about our life and body. But it also shows that the prohibition of clandestine abortion and we are forced to put in place a screening mechanism of disinformation, which is particularly harmful to poor women and girls, young people, excluded victims serious forms of violence against women, who see his right to access information that saves lives.
The purpose of the telephone line Abortion, more information, less risk is to democratize access to information on the correct method for safe abortion with misoprostol. This information, compiled and published by the World Health Organization and the American Federation of Societies of Obstetrics and Gynecology, among others, aims to prevent death and damage to health caused by unsafe abortions, carried out in secret. This project is part of a shared work with activists in Ecuador and Chile and will be carried out in Argentina by the Lesbian and feminist articulation for the decriminalization of abortion. We have the support of the NGO Women on Waves (Netherlands), XminY and various local political and social organizations.
